The Build - Getting Started

Selecting the Woods for the guitar body
The first thing that Vince did on this project was to find some *really* nice Brazilian rosewood.
He managed to get his hands on just about enough to build a Dreadnought body. The wood was beautifully configured and would do just right. The added bonus was the sumptuous amount of sapwood down the centre of the book-matched back and all along the sides. The colour contrast would come up a treat once the instrument had been built and polished up.

3. Solid Engelmann Spruce being glued together. Lots of nice bearclaw in there.

4. Profiling the centre edges of the back pieces.  This has to be true for a straight fit.  It is done with sandpaper attached to a level and sanded by hand.
